Tutoring Programs

Mathematics – I have many hands on materials to help your child have a deeper understanding of math.  I also use videos about the math standard to show different ways to understand the material.  I can test your child to see which math areas they are weak in to be ready for the next grade level in the Fall.

Language Arts – I customize a program based on your child’s interest.  If they love baseball: we read baseball books, write about baseball players, create a video about baseball, etc.  Through their interest, I can improve their vocabulary, reading and writing skills.

Reading – I work with dyslexic students with a program called, “Blast Off to Reading’.  It has been very successful.  I have special games to play to make learning fun.

Science – Many students do not much of the academic day in science.  I have found many students like science and love to make experiments.  Through science I use art, math, reading, writing to make the subject material come alive.  I also believe in field trips to complement their science learning if possible.  I can suggest trips for you and your child to make to improve their science abilities.

Autism – If you have just had your child diagnosed as on the spectrum of autism, you have a journey ahead of you.  I can offer services of teaching you how to use social stories to help your child adjust to students in his or her class.  I firmly believe all students can learn.  Educators just need to find the individual ways to motivate and teach your child.

Technology – If you need help with your computer, iPhone, making technology work for you? Call Point Loma Tutor!  We can help you.  Private in-house tutoring available.  In the past I taught six sections of special education students how to use technology in the classroom so I can teach you.
